Paramount plans a live-action feature film starring "Lara Croft." The film will be produced by Lawrence Gordon and Lloyd Levin of Boogie Nights notoriety, so we can expect more than a B-grade show of cleavage and random violence. (Wouldn't that be tragic.)

Croft is the curvaceous heroine of the top-selling game Tomb Raider. Her daring-do has captured a worldwide following among game players -- and helped pave the way for more female action heroes in computer entertainment titles.

Gordon's credits include 48 Hours, Another 48 HRS, Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Predator, Predator 2, and Boogie Nights. Levin has worked with Gordon for over a decade and aided in the production on Boogie Nights and was executive producer on Used People, Predator 2, and Die Hard 2: Die Harder. This is a team with a good action track record, plus Boogie Nights, so the possibilities are endless.

John Goldwyn, president of Paramount Motion Pictures, said, "We are thrilled by the possibilities of this film project. We are confident that the pairing of Eidos, a leading company in the cutting-edge world of video games, and producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin, will result in a ground-breaking live-action adventure movie with worldwide appeal."

No other details are available about the movie, but as more information becomes available about who will play Lara, GameSpot News will be reporting it.
