With Voodoo heritage and Apple MacBook lines, HP's Envy 15 laptop is a force to be reckoned with (as is its price tag). But a new "Beats Limited Edition" model sheathes the otherwise silver laptop in a matte black with red trim number.

It's a good look.

The limited edition system gets its name from the popular Beats headphones (review), originally a single model of upscale, ear-cup headphones designed for bass-heavy hip-hop and rap and promoted by superproducer De. Dre.

Manufactured by Monster, the sound company most famous for its overpriced cables, the line now includes earbud headphones promoted by pop star Lady Gaga (appropriately, "Heartbeats"). The HP laptop marks the first time the marque has been licensed to another company.

The laptop matches the headphones with a glossy black plastic finish (underneath, magnesium). The Beats logo replaces the "B" on the keyboard, and that logo is replicated in several places on the outside.

Audio-centric additions to the limited edition notebook include a pair of the original Beats headphones and Traktor LE, audio software for DJs.

The system will ship October 22 for $2,299, $500 more than the original model.
