HPE adds density to 3PAR storage family, rolls out OneView 3.0
Hewlett Packard Enterprise is upping the density for its 3PAR StoreServ all-flash arrays including support for 7.68 TB and 15.36 TB 3D NAND solid state drives.
The updates come as HPE holds its Discover conference in Las Vegas. HPE is in a statistical tie for No. 1 in enterprise storage, according to IDC.
Enterprises are increasingly moving to all-flash storage arrays and HPE has cashed in on its 3PAR brand. HPE said its latest 3Par arrays are dense enough to support up to 24 petabytes of usable solid state drive capacity in a system.
HPE said that the advances have been driving by technologies such as 3PAR Adaptive Sparing, which assures SSDs can be used, and 3PAR Express Layout, which enables concurrent access to drives.
In addition, HPE said that it is integrating native Docker integration via a plug-in to its 3PAR StoreServ storage family. The plug-in code is on GitHub.
HPE also added advances to provide moving application snapshots faster via its Recovery Manager Central software, which also supports Oracle databases, SAP HANA and 3PAR File Persona.
Along with the storage update, HPE also rolled out the latest version of OneView. OneView 3.0 is HPE's software defined data center engine and works across the company's servers, storage and converged infrastructure.
HPE OneView sill support the latest developer tools such as Docker, SaltStack and Chef. OneView 3.0 also gets a new dashboard for distributed infrastructure, management of network systems and integration with HPE's Helion CloudSystem 10.
