Online retailer Expansys announced on Thursday that the 7-inch Huawei tablet known as the S7 is now available for pre-order, priced at £299.99 including VAT.

According to Expansys's staff, the retailer is expecting stocks of the S7 to reach them on Saturday 31 July, meaning that customer orders should start shipping from Monday 2 August.

Despite the requisite short wait, the S7 could prove an interesting prospect to people attracted by an Android 2.1 OS and £299.99 price tag – the cheapest 3G capable 16GB iPad (Video) is available directly from Apple priced at £529.

Other vitals of the S7 include a 728MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 7-inch resistive WVGA (800x480 pixels) touchscreen display, Wi-Fi b/g/n and 3G HSPA connectivity.

The Expansys pre-order page also confirms that there is no internal storage on the S7, provided instead with a microSD expansion slot that will support cards up to 32GB.

Expansys is also selling a bundle that includes the S7 with a 32GB microSD included for £369.99.

Rounding off the key specs, the S7 also provides Bluetooth 2.1 support (including A2DP), a 2-megapixel camera and, naturally being an Android phone, has a wide range of apps available, which can be downloaded directly from the Android Market.
