Hulu Plus subscription might drop to $4.99 as soon as this week

If you weren't jumping at subscribing to Hulu Plus because of the $9.99 subscription fee, maybe a 50% price cut will entice you a little more.

If you weren't jumping at subscribing to Hulu Plus because of the $9.99 subscription fee, maybe a 50% price cut will entice you a little more.

At least that is what Hulu is hoping. According to AllThingsD, going with a slashed price "would indicate that consumers haven’t bought in to the pitch." The Los Angeles Times adds that the change could take place as soon as within the next week.

It's not terribly surprising that Hulu would make this move. Considering how many Internet TV options there are now via HDTVs, Netflix's Watch Instantly service online and on multiple gaming consoles, and even other iPad apps besides Hulu, who wants to shell out another $9.99 for access to some more TV programming?

It is especially troubling to consider paying this with LAT adds that certain networks are pulling current episodes of popular shows, which was the whole point of this premium service in the first place.

Do you subscribe to Hulu Plus? And if you don't, would a $4.99 monthly subscription fee make you jump on board?
