Industry, Big Apple trying to negotiate settlement in e-waste case

I've reported several times on the status of a case in New York City in which the Consumer Electronics Association and the Information Technology Industry Council have sued the city over its electronic waste collection and processing regulation. My last update on the case was back in late January, so I got to wondering about the status a little while ago as I was shoveling snow.

Oral arguments were supposed to start this month, but a judge has postponed them so that the parties can try to work out their differences outside the courtroom. Natural Resources Defense Council Lawyer Kate Sindig comments about the negotiations briefly in her blog, but the nature of the talks is confidential. Here's hoping for an amicable agreement.
