Intel Corp. introduced the Intel Personal Internet Client Architecture at the Intel Developer Forum in Tokyo on Wednesday. The architecture specifications are designed to accelerate the development of next generation Internet applications for wireless devices.

The specifications can be used in conjunction with Intel's StrongARM processor, which Intel anticipates has the proper amount of processing power for next-generation wireless applications, such as streaming audio and video.

The specifications are preparation for 2.5 and 3G cellular phones, which Intel expects will drastically change the mobile communications habits of users. Phones are not expected in the U.S. for another two years. -- John G. Spooner, ZDNet News
