IT Anthems: Sensormatic

We can do it again (MP3) Remember Per-Olof Loof, whose "We're AT&T" song did so much to lighten the otherwise dark story of the AT&T-NCR merger? Given that we first heard of him last April, and his middle name and last name are both anagrams of the word "fool", we wondered whether he might simply be a hoax? So we are delighted to find that Per-Olof is very real. And his career has continued beyond his time at AT&T. After AT&T broke up, Loof found his way to security company, Sensormatic Electronics. And, as surely as night follows day, he was quickly leading his troops from the recording studio, this time with a sort-of Phil Collins number. This song seems to be his own composition -- perhaps to avoid litigation: did he really have permission to use the Sister Sledge song at AT&T, we wonder? Once the song was in the can, Loof's magic touch struck again, and Sensormatic was bought by Tyco. Although our contact at Sensormatic says "Per's recording contract was not renewed," a quick Google finds a couple of references to him as a senior vice president at Tyco during 2002, sitting on the boards of various charities. We would love to have more songs by the man, including the legendary "Back in the New NCR". Maybe we could even release a bootleg CD at some point in the future.
