Knight Ridder hires Red Herring, Times execs

Online publisher Knight Ridder Digital said Friday that it has named several new top executives, including a chief financial officer. The San Jose, Calif.-based company, which runs the newspaper Web sites of its parent publisher and a network of local city guides, Real Cities, appointed former Red Herring Communications CFO Tracy Martin as vice president and chief financial officer. In addition, it named Ross Settles, a former Times Mirror executive, as vice president of strategic marketing and Jamie Glenn as vice president of business development. The move comes only months after the company named Hilary Schneider, former CEO of Red Herring, as president and chief executive. --Stefanie Olsen, Special to ZDNet News
