LinkedIn is breaking out its recruiting tools into a standalone mobile app with the intention of making it easier to get one's resume noticed from virtually anywhere, anytime.
Dubbed LinkedIn Recruiter Mobile, the app is designed to facilitate access to the more than 238 million member profiles and counting as well as offer recruiters the chance to provide feedback and/or respond to job queries via phone call, text, email, or InMail directly from the app.
LinkedIn has been making strides in the digital publishing space, most notably with its acquisition ofearlier this year. With the new Recruiter Mobile app, LinkedIn is also making moves to develop a more well-rounded and well-stocked arsenal of productivity apps in the same vein as Evernote and even Facebook.
Parker Barrile, senior director of product at LinkedIn, noted in a blog post on Wednesday that roughly 33 percent of LinkedIn members access the professional social network via mobile channel and more than 30 percent of LinkedIn job views also stem from mobile.
Barrile also explained why having a standalone mobile app for recruiters could be more beneficial for both parties rather than just depending on the platform's primary native app:
They’re no different than you and me – they’re running from one meeting to the next, standing in line at Starbucks and grabbing lunch with colleagues. Yet they have a hard time interacting with you when they’re away from their desks, which is frustrating for everyone. Remember looking at your phone and wondering why a recruiter hasn’t responded? We’ve all been there. But thanks to Recruiter Mobile, you can now interact with recruiters instantaneously wherever they are.
Recruiter Mobile is currently only available as a native app for iOS. To get the app, LinkedIn users must enter their U.S. phone numbers in an online form to receive a link via SMS. Standard text messaging rates and fees apply.
Owners of devices with non U.S. phone numbers can punch in a link (lnkd.in/get-recruiter-mobile) on their mobile browsers to get started.
LinkedIn also introduced a mobile version of its Work With Us recruiting product, which is meant to promote job listings and recruiting messages each time an employee profile from a given company is viewed on the network, essentially turning employees into "brand ambassadors." The goal here is to attract more passive job candidates and make it easier for them to discover employment openings.
