Mandrake, Borland join Gnome group

Linux distribution provider MandrakeSoft and software maker Borland Corp. (inpr) (formerly Inprise) have announced plans to join the Gnome Foundation, an open-source-basedconsortium aiming to further develop the popular desktop for Linux.

Linux distribution provider MandrakeSoft and software maker Borland Corp. (inpr) (formerly Inprise) have announced plans to join the Gnome Foundation, an open-source-based consortium aiming to further develop the popular desktop for Linux. Both companies are joining the Gnome Foundation Advisory Board, which includes IBM Corp. (ibm), Hewlett-Packard Co. (hwp), and Red Hat Inc. (rhat). Both companies will still continue to support the alternative to GNOME, KDE 2.0. -- Robert Lemos, ZDNet News.
