$10m fraud uncovered...

The FBI has arrested a gang of Taiwanese pirates trying to sell counterfeit Microsoft software worth over $10m. The FBI has uncovered a group which operated through four men based in California's San Gabriel Valley, according to Reuters. The forces seized fake copies of Windows 98, Office 2000, Windows NT Server and Windows Millennium Edition with an estimated retail value of $10.5m. Each counterfeit copy of the Windows CD came attached with a stick-on label featuring a hologram similar to those embedded in the genuine CDs. The FBI has said the software was smuggled to the US from Asia and alleged the four men arrested were responsible for pick-up and distribution.
