A couple years ago, Motorola released the first Moto X and while the specs weren't at the top of the charts, the overall user experience was fantastic.

Motorola then upgraded the Moto X last year with the 2nd generation Moto X, but the battery life and camera were a bit disappointing and Moto X fans were hoping to see the 2015 model improve in at least these two key areas.

This morning Motorola revealed the new Moto X, in two screen sizes, and a new Moto G. It looks like the new Moto X offers improvements in both the camera and battery areas. ZDNet's Kevin Tofel is on site and will soon fill us in with his hands-on first impressions.

Moto X Style

Motorola is offering up two Moto X devices this year with the first being the Moto X Style. As the rumors suggested, the Moto X Style is a larger display Moto X with a 5.7 inch quad-HD screen.

The Moto X Style also has front facing stereo speakers, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 808 1.8 GHz processor, and 21 megapixel camera. Internal storage options include 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, but you also get a microSD expansion card slot for more storage capacity.

It has a 3,000 mAh battery and fastest TurboPower charging capability.

The Moto X Style will have a launch price that is $200 to $300 less than competing flagships. A Pure Edition sold directly from Motorola will be available starting in September for just $399. This includes global LTE support, fast Turbo Charging, and more.

Moto X Play

The Moto X Play has a 21 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front facing camera, 5.5 inch display, Snapdragon 615 processor, 3,630 mAh battery, and more.

The Moto X Play has a removable back cover, much like the Moto G. The Moto X Style has an integrated back with options such as leather, wood, and plastic.

The Moto X Play's price will be $300 to $400 less than competing flagships and will be available in 55 countries starting in August. This model will not be available in the United States.

Moto G

The Moto G is one of the best value smartphones you can buy and this year Motorola is bringing some of the compelling Moto X customization options to Moto G customers.

The new Moto G has a 13 megapixel camera, the same as the Nexus 6. The front facing camera is 5 megapixels.

The new Moto G sports a Snapdragon 410 processor, microSD card slot, 2,470 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. There will also be a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage model available.

The Moto G goes on sale around the world today. It is completely waterproof for up to 30 minutes in a meter of water.

The Moto X Play's price will be $400 to $500 less than competing flagships. The starting price will be $179.99.
