Motorola to show first UK cable modem
Motorola will tomorrow demonstrate the first cable modems working in the UK.
The US giant's Multimedia Group will make the demonstration of its CyberSURFR modems working over the Telewest Communications network at the European Cable Communications Show. It also plans to begin trialing the product over the Nynex network in Manchester area. A spokesman for Motorola said the modems will receive data at up to 10Mbits/sec. The firm intends to license the products to cable operators who will resell them as part of business-to-business services from next year.
