Legal experts said they were surprised Friday when a federal appeals court temporarily struck down an injunction that would have shut down Napster. James Chadwick, an attorney with Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich in Palo Alto, Calif., said it was a sign the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was going to examine the new legal issues surrounding digital music. Still, Chadwick said Napster should be prepared to comply with the court's final ruling, even if that means finding a way to block major label music downloads.
