National Semiconductor said Friday that Internet appliance maker Japan Computer is using its Geode chip. Japan Computer released in Japan last week the iBox-2 appliance, which uses the Geode SC1200 processor. The company has plans to release similar devices in the United States by the end of the year. The iBox-2 targets both home and commercial markets, offering broadband and dial-up Internet access. The iBox-2 devices run on the Linux operating system.
