News Burst: EU telecoms chief to be hauled into court
The European Union telecommunications commissioner, Martin Bangemann, faces an European Court of Justice investigation after accepting a board position with Spanish telecoms group Telefónica.
Last week Bangemann was forced to take a leave of absence from his duties. The scandal is the latest in a series involving EU officials and is a serious blow to the EU's efforts to repair the tarnished image of its executive.
