Here's the roundup for Friday, April 16, 2010:

Google delivered a typically good quarter. The first quarter results were impressive overall and the search giant's braintrust sounded upbeat about the prospects. The results weren't totally unexpected, but didn't have the wow factor that Intel delivered. Google didn't say much about China, but did note that the Nexus One is a profitable venture for the company. Google didn't provide sales figures for the Nexus one. The PC upgrade cycle is so strong that AMD is reporting first quarter profits. The company credited graphic, server and notebook platforms for its return to the black. The quarter is a nice stepping stone for AMD.

Viacom released more documents in its copyright lawsuit against Google. The newly public documents don't paint a good picture for Google. I'm no lawyer, but this document jousting may point to a settlement---just to end the embarrassment. Sun shipped a quicky Java patch that would have led to a lot of malware attacks for Windows users.

Meanwhile, Adrian Kingsley-Hughes released his best kit list for the next two months. It's a handy read for anyone buying, building or upgrading a PC.
