Nexsan revs green dedupe line

Green storage maker Nexsan has updated it data dedupe product line, which features the AutoMAID disk-idling technology.

Storage company Nexsan has updated its DeDupe SG (Speed with Green) product line. The 2.0 version of the technology includes the latest version of FalconStor File-Interface Deduplication System (FDS). Another key feature is support for the Symantec OpenStorage protocol, which accelerates data "ingestion." (That is the FIRST time I have thought about a piece of technology having an appetite!)

The reason that this line is on my radar is because it features AutoMAID, which manages the disks so that that they always live in their most energy-efficient power consumption state, without compromising their availability for backups and other tasks. The new product is supposed to ship at the end of February.
