No ZFS for Leopard but maybe for later Mac OS

Earlier this week Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz said the Apple would adopt ZFS, Sun's open source file system. But Steve Jobs' didn't say anything about ZFS during his Worldwide Developers Conference keynote while highlighting the forthcoming Leopard release of Mac OS X.

InformationWeek talked to Brian Croll, senior director of product marketing for the Mac OS, who said that ZFS is not happening for Leopard. Croll did not categorically rule out the ZFS as part of the Mac OS, however. "Upon further questioning, Croll would only confirm that Apple had never said ZFS would be a part of Leopard," Antone Gonsalves reported.

It sounds like ZFS may be destined for a Mac OS further down the road. Given Steve Jobs' desire to control every bit of information, he couldn't have been too happy with Schwartz's 'leak.' Maybe he took the announcement off his WWDC keynote script or the deal wasn't fully baked.
