Nortel launches secure DSL technology
DSL with added security to halt snoopers
New security-conscious Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology was made available Monday by networking giant, Nortel Networks.
The new technology called Secure DSL is designed to prevent interception or monitoring of "always-on" DSL lines by using network-based packet firewalls secured to each individual DSL line.
Secure DSL will be offered as part of Shasta Subscriber Service System (SSS), a network management application for Internet service providers.
The SSS suite of applications begins at $30,000 (£18,897).
