Microsoft have rolled out a new and improved set of features for Office Live Workspace, which now offers more functionality and interaction with cloud vs. offline Office applications.

I've reported on Office Live a few times before, most recently with Outlook Live which is taking off like a storm, and with more feedback taken to heart by the Microsoft team, they've made die-hard Office Live fans much happier.

To view a step by step look at the new features, head on over to the screenshot gallery.

From the press release, they have added:

  • Folders - allows better organisation of files within workspaces, chopping up files into directories for later looking over.
  • Copy/pasting - moving files from one workspace or folder to another simplifies downloading to the desktop and uploading again.
  • 5GB storage - up from 500MB which was little to nothing, especially with the amount of lecture notes the average student has. This will be updated over the next few days, according to the program manager.
  • New languages - support for Eastern Europe including Hungarian, Romanian, Ukrainian and Latvian.

The new features have already improved the academic lives of one student at the University of Washington, which can be seen in the video below. Using it for research, along with the ease of use and sharing features, allows simplicity of collaborating.

Sure, these are words which seem boring and dull, but keeping things online can really make a difference.
