Oki Data Americas on Monday introduced four workgroup color printers utilizing digital LED technology. The models in the OKI C7350 and C7550 series, which replace the C7300 and C7500 series, are designed for medium-size workgroups seeking high-volume, pre-press-quality printing, Oki Data said.

The C7350n, C7350hdn, C7550n, and C7550hdn offer print speeds of up to 24 pages per minute in color and 26 ppm in monochrome. The OKI C7350 series prints at 1,200 x 600-dpi resolution, while the C7550 series ups the ante to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. All models include a 500MHz PowerPC 750 processor, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet interface, and 630-sheet paper capacity.

The C7350n and C7550n come with 192MB of RAM; the C7350hdn and C7550hdn, with 320MB. All four are expandable to 1GB. The C7350hdn and C7550hdn support duplex printing and include 20GB hard drives for more complex print jobs; both features are optional in the C7350n and C7550n models.

The new printers utilize Oki Data's Digital LED and Single Pass Color technologies. The company estimated a cost-per-page of 7.9 cents for color and 1.8 cents for monochrome, with a monthly duty cycle of 100,000 pages.

Oki Data's managed services program can monitor an organization's networked OKI C7350/C7550-series printers, identifying printer status and usage and forecasting consumables replacements.

Each printer comes with a one-year on-site warranty on the printer and a five-year warranty on the Digital LED print heads. The OKI C7350 and C7550 series support stand-alone and network operating systems including Mac OS 8.6-X.1; Linux 2.0 with glibc2 or higher; Solaris 2.8 or higher; and Windows 95 and later. They are due to ship at the end of this month. The C7350n and C7350hdn are priced at $1,799 and $2,199, respectively; the C7550n and C7550hdn, at $2,039 and $2,579.
