Google today announced the acquisition of Omnisio, a video website that lets users publish their own compilations of videos, and then allow viewers to annotate them. Google says the Omnisio team will be joining YouTube, and they will be likely working on integrating the technology they have developed, and thinking about new ways to make YouTube more interactive.

Google had their own "remixing" feature in YouTube, but it has since been abandoned.

"YouTube Remixer was slow and somewhat feature-weak when it was released, and it was later removed. Omnisio’s editor was a working start but I’m sure there’s still much more to improve in this space..." -- Philipp Lenssen
