29% of US Internet users read an online newspaper in March 2005, representing a total audience of nearly 44 mln people, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. The data, which takes into account both home and work Internet usage, shows a 3.1% increase in unique audience in March 2005 to Newspaper Web sites, compared with March 2004. Across the board, online newspaper usage is trending up. Unique audience grew by nearly 9% from February 2005 to March 2005, page view consumption grew by 38%, pages per person by 27%, visits per person went up 5%, and time per person increased 6%. The data also shows that average quarterly reach in Q1 2005 was 29.0% compared with 27.5% in Q1 2004.
