Orange has launched Film To Go, a reward offer for its business, home, mobile and fixed broadband customers.

The operator already has a two-for-one cinema ticket deal called Orange Wednesdays, which has been a huge success in attracting customers, but Film To Go lets customers download and watch films on a range of devices.

The service, announced on Monday, is free for those using a dedicated iPhone app or Orange's Facebook page. Those applying for downloads via text message will pay 35p.

Launched with Apple as a partner, the films can be watched on PCs, laptops and iOS mobile devices. Specific films, normally costing up to £4.49, can be downloaded each Thursday from iTunes.

"Giving our valued customers a film download every week to enjoy at home or out and about on a mobile device is a great way to thank them for being part of Orange," Orange UK brand director Spencer McHugh said in a statement. "We've got some fantastic titles lined up for the launch and even more yet to be announced, so we're hoping to see a significant number of our customers taking up this offer."

The launch titles include The Wrestler, The Ghost and Che: Part One. Orange said further titles would be added "in the coming months".

An Orange spokesman confirmed to ZDNet UK on Monday that only one film would be made available to customers each week.
