Overstatement of the day: An Apple phone and nuclear war

In his NYT story about what Steve Jobs might announce (an Apple phone) tomorrow during his Macworld keynote, John Markoff quotes Paul Mercer, president of Inventor, which does user interface design for mobile devices: "Apple is about to touch off a nuclear war. The Nokias and the Motorolas will have to respond.

In his NYT story about what Steve Jobs might announce (an Apple phone) tomorrow during his Macworld keynote, John Markoff quotes Paul Mercer, president of Inventor, which does user interface design for mobile devices: "Apple is about to touch off a nuclear war. The Nokias and the Motorolas will have to respond."  A nuclear would likely entail mass destruction as opposed to more rapid innovation and a healthy competitive battle. How about a skirmish?
