Plumtree lays out Java, Linux plan

Plumtree Software plans to introduce a new version of its business-portal programs next year that increases support for Linux and Java technology, including systems from Sun Microsystems and IBM. Plumtree, which detailed its plans Monday, said the Java version of its products will offer the same features and server architecture as the current Windows version, which it released earlier this year.

With the 5.0J Java version of the Plumtree Corporate Portal, Plumtree will tune its software for running on Web and application servers from the Apache Software Foundation, BEA Systems, IBM and Sun, as well as on Sun and IBM operating systems, the company said. Plumtree plans to introduce Linux support by the end of 2004.
