In conjunction with reminding everyone that its products are Energy Star 5.0-compliant (the company has made a series of announcements this spring and summer), Dell has enhanced its Client Energy Savings Calculator.

The calculator update provides support for a broader range of power supplies, processors, disk drives, memory, storage and power management options. The big change is that is accommodates far more what-if scenario experimentation. So, if you're thinking about adding more memory or storage or a graphic adapter, you can see the impact that addition will have when it comes to power consumption.

The calculator also makes accommodations for different regions or countries, as well as different currencies.

You can compare several different systems, but the catch is that they must all be Dell systems.

This press release provides an overview of which systems across Dell's business portfolio -- from server to notebook -- are compliant with the Energy Star 5.0 update.
