Protect against unified threats with Check Point

Check Point Software Technologies has launched the new Check Point Safe@Office 500 and Safe@Office 500W Unified Threat Management security appliances, offering small businesses network protection in a single solution.

The new appliances feature a firewall, VPN (virtual private network), antivirus, intrusion prevention, traffic shaping and Web filtering. In addition, the Safe@Office 500W integrates a 108Mbps extended range wireless access point with wireless security and guest hotspot capabilities.

According to Check Point, the Safe@Office 500 series also supports online services such as antivirus, security and firmware updates, providing protection against rapidly propagating threats without any user intervention. The Safe@Office 500 series appliances will be available in December. Pricing starts at US$299 for the appliance, and has a starting annual fee of US$10 per user for the firewall and antivirus subscriptions.

Fuji Xerox goes versatile

Fuji Xerox Singapore has launched two new digital black and white multifunction devices which combine scanning, copying, printing and faxing into one unit.

The DocuCentre 550 I/ 450 I from Fuji Xerox can handle various documents, such as simplex, duplex, enlarged and minimized pages, together as one copy job, while the fax function can handle up to three ports, thereby increasing efficiency when sending and receiving documents. The control panel of the scanner function allows users to save digitized paper documents directly to PCs and servers without having to use a computer.

The DocuCentre 550 I/ 450 retails from US$7,700 to US$11,515.

Lighten up with Toshiba's Satellite M70

The Satellite M70 notebooks feature a 15.4-inch diagonal TFT WXGA widescreen display and Intel's Centrino Mobile Technology for wireless capabilities. With the integrated DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive, the Satellite M70 series can read and write up to 11 formats, as well as nearly double a recordable DVD's storage capacity in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats. The lightest model weighs just 2.7kg.

Sharing data and connecting to other devices is made simple on the Satellite M70 which has four USB ports and a 5-in-1 card reader. Also included is Acronis True Image Personal Edition, a backup software package for small office users to create an exact disk image for complete system backup and bare metal restore while providing data protection.
