Captaris, a developer of business-information delivery solutions, announced today the release of RightFax 9.0, a major update of the company's enterprise fax server and e-document delivery program.

The RightFax fax server enables companies to deliver documents and data from most applications via fax, e-mail, print devices, and the Internet. The new version promises faster and easier deployment, a simplified user interface, and various performance enhancements, Captaris said.

Specifically, RightFax 9.0 offers an open Microsoft SQL Server database designed for scalability and interoperability; RightFax Web Access, a .Net-based Web client and interface for sending, receiving, and managing faxes; and expanded security and privacy capabilities, including restricted viewing and user tracking.

The new version also features Short Messaging Services (SMS) enhancements, allowing users to create and send SMS messages from RightFax clients such as Outlook and Lotus Notes; and Fax over IP, which supports the T.38 real-time faxing standard via Brooktrout's TR 1034 intelligent fax boards for secure transmissions, Captaris said. Finally, RightFax 9.0 includes FCC-compliant Do Not Fax/Do Not Dial anti-spam features that check outgoing faxes against a list of blocked numbers.

Captaris also announced today the RightFax Connector for Hummingbird Enterprise DM, which enables users to automatically send, receive, and manages faxes from within the Captaris Hummingbird DM environment. Compatible with RightFax 8.7 and 9.0 servers, the RightFax Connector is available immediately for $4,495.

Also available now, RightFax 9.0 requires a 500MHz Pentium III processor, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of hard drive space, and Windows 2000 (Server and Advanced Server) SP4 or Windows Server 2003. Pricing starts at $1,995.
