Rumored BlackBerry 8350i to include both WiFi and GPS

My iPhone 3G was returned yesterday and on the way home I swung by the T-Mobile store and picked up one of those new Sunset colored BlackBerry Curves and enabled the BIS with T-Mobile. Upon the request of many readers, I plan to start adding more BlackBerry coverage to this blog and wanted a device to test out software on and relate personal experiences to you. I thought the Curve was one of the latest and greatest BlackBerry devices (and it is for what is now available), but the Boy Genius Report just posted the Sprint 2008-09 roadmap for several mobile devices, including the new BlackBerry 8350i.

I thought this UMA/WiFi-enabled Curve was one of the latest and greatest BlackBerry devices (and it is for what is now available), but the Boy Genius Report just posted the Sprint 2008-09 roadmap for several mobile devices, including the new BlackBerry 8350i.

The BlackBerry 8350i not only includes WiFi and Bluetooth, but also throws in GPS so you no longer have to decide between a GPS model or a WiFi model. The device is designed after and looks very similar to the BlackBerry Curve and supports Nextel Direct Connect services. The leaked slide states a 4th quarter 2008 release so it may be coming soon. There will also be a model without a camera for those businesses that are sensitive to having them.
