Same game + Different platform = Same problems!

The argument that I hear regularly from devoted games console fans is that the experience of playing the game on a console far outweighs that of playing on a PC. The graphics might be better on the PC, but gaming on the PC is a bug-ridden experience. But what about when you have the exact same bugs on multiple platforms?

The argument that I hear regularly from devoted games console fans is that the experience of playing the game on a console far outweighs that of playing on a PC. The graphics might be better on the PC, but gaming on the PC is a bug-ridden experience. But what about when you have the exact same bugs on multiple platforms?

Take Crysis 2. I've been working through the single-player levels of the game on the PS3 while my daughter has been playing on the PC. Overall out experiences have been quite positive up until yesterday when I was playing a certain level and supper what's come to be known as the 'invisible gun glitch' where my character doesn't seem to have a gun. Here's a video from YouTube that some other kind gamer made:

Now shortly after experiencing the 'invisible gun glitch' something strange happened - my PS3 locked up solid for the very first time. Tech locks up from time to time so I didn't sweat about it. But what was odd was that when I mentioned it to my daughter she said that the PC locked up at the exact same spot in the game.

Same game. Two different platforms. Same bugs. The 'invisible gun glitch' being present on two different platforms was to be expected, but I was kinda surprised to find that the crash resulted in a lockup on both platforms.

Are console games about to get as buggy as PC games? I hope not!
