Sanyo enters digital camera market

Sanyo has become the latest big name to enter the swelling market for digital cameras in the UK.

Launched today, the Japanese giant's first product is the VPC-G1, which will be marketed under the more manageable name of Image PC. The camera is aimed at the mid-point between photography professionals and keen amateurs, and is priced accordingly at £580.

The Image PC stores up to 32 320x240 JPEG images or 16 640x480 images in 1Mb (upgradable to 2Mb or 4Mb) of flash memory. Pictures are downloaded through a serial connection and the unit is powered by four AA batteries.
