The government of Brazilian megalopolis São Paulo will be hosting a week of events intended to foster business generation within the technology sector.

The São Paulo Tech Weekwill take place during the week of November 3-9 and it is being organized by SP Negócios, the business agency of the São Paulo city government, with several companies such as Samsung, Sabre and Intel promoting development events and hackathons.

"São Paulo is one of the world's main innovation ecosystems and concentrates international investors, large sector organizations, creative spaces and world-class talent. The event's aim is to celebrate and boost the potential of this innovation environment that already exists in São Paulo," says the president at SP Negócios, Rodrigo Pirajá Wienskoski.

Foreign investors will also be present at the event as part of a parallel project to drive international investment in the local technology ecosystem led by Apex Brasil, the Brazilian trade and investment promotion agency.

Within the Tech Week, other events will take place such as the Annual Startup Conference, the Wearable Festival, the Health Summit and the SP Fintech Summit.

Other tech-related initiatives have been driven by the São Paulo city government recently, including Tech Sampa, an initiative introduced last year to support the creation and development of new ventures.

The Mayor's Office is also sponsoring studies on how data analytics can help improve the management of the local public transport networkand a tender has also been launched to select technology-based projects to improve mobility issues in the city.
