Second Dell Android tablet gets sneak preview
More Dell tablets to follow the Streak, says Michael Dell
Hot on the heels of the Streak, Dell CEO Michael Dell has given a sneak preview of the second tablet device the company is working on.
Dell showed off the seven-inch device, which will run the Android operating system, at the Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco.
Dell said of the company's tablet range: "We are going to grow the product line."
He added: "When new technologies arrive that are great for customers you stand in its way at your peril. You are better off embracing it even if its impacts on something that you have done before. In the mobility we are just at the beginning of this."
The second device will be slightly larger than the five-inch Streak, which was unveiled earlier this year. Dell did not give details of when the new device is expected to be available, however.
Only two per cent of mobile users currently have smartphones, according to Dell. "In the next five years most of those people are going to figure out they want a smartphone too," he said. "We are going to see an enormous expansion."
