Smart Phone Madness Finals: Motorola DROID vs Palm Pre Plus

The two latest smartphones running fairly new mobile operating systems goes head-to-head in this Laptop Magazine contest. Can the marketing king take out the device struggling to find a place in the smartphone world?

The finals for the Laptop Magazine Smart Phone Madness polls has been tipped off with the Motorola DROID taking on the Palm Pre Plus. It seems pretty clear that no matter which device wins, Verizon is the winning network in this contest. So now we have Google Android versus Palm webOS on two devices with physical QWERTY keyboards. I voted for the Palm Pre Plus and with the new FREE tethering feature it is tough not to choose the Pre Plus that can be picked up for only $10 more than a MiFi, but with full smartphone capabilities.

Palm hasn't done as well as anticipated with their new Palm webOS devices while Android really took a leap forward with the overwhelming Motorola DROID marketing campaign. I wonder if the Pre Plus would have taken off if it had launched earlier with such a marketing campaign. The Pre Plus had to follow the DROID on Verizon and hasn't seen the promotion from Verizon like the DROID, either in the stores or on TV. As a person who has used both operating systems, I feel Palm webOS is easier to use and has a much better multitasking experience with far fewer lockups than I experience on Android. This will be an interesting poll as the king of Verizon Wireless marketing takes on the device struggling in the market.
