Most photos shot at parties often come out looking poorly, especially if you attempt them without flash. It can also be cumbersome to try to take pictures and hold a drink or food in your hand at the same time Well, Sony wants to help the amateur party-photographer crowd with two new pocket digital cameras, the Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1. Some reviewers are already calling them cameras that can "see in the dark." Using Sony's Exmor-R technology, a back-illuminated CMOS sensor, the new cameras have "approximately twice the sensitivity compared to conventional sensors."

But more importantly, they have unveiled the Party-shot camera dock, which can circle 360 degrees and tilt the camera up to 24 degrees, following guests via face and smile detection embedded in Sony cameras. Instead of pushing the button yourself, the dock shoots photos on its own when it determines the right moment. A very difficult task, indeed.
