Sony surveys PS2 fans about Linux

Sony wants to hear from PlayStation 2 owners in the United States who are interested in running Linux on their game console. Earlier this year, the consumer electronics giant released a hardware-software package to run the open-source operating system on the Japanese version of the game console.

Sony wants to hear from PlayStation 2 owners in the United States who are interested in running Linux on their game console. Earlier this year, the consumer electronics giant released a hardware-software package to run the open-source operating system on the Japanese version of the game console.

Sony Computer Entertainment of America is now considering doing the same for owners of the system in the United States and has set up an online survey to gauge interest. --David Becker, Special to ZDNet News
