The video gurus here at ZDNet have posted their latest in the Green Enterprise series, some tips from Sun Microsystems CIO Bob Worrall on how to tackle making your data center more energy-efficient while simultaneously reducing the carbon dioxide emissions it contributes to the atmosphere.

I'll let Bob pretty much speak for himself, but three things stuck with me as I viewed this segment.

First, his focus on handling this process in small, manageable steps. Ones that have specific goals.

Second, the emphasis on three main components of a green data center: an adaptable cooling system, a modular busway, and a system to meter/measure this in real time.

Third, his reminder that green data centers aren't just the responsibility of the IT department. These projects will need input and buy-in from IT, the real estate and facilities team, the financial department and CFO, and (potentially) the corporate legal department.

Enjoy.
