Survey: Tech workers fret about layoffs

The Hudson Employment Index reports that 22 percent of technology workers expect layoffs, up nearly 7 points from the previous month. Meanwhile technology worker confidence fell 6 points to 109.

The Hudson Employment Index reports that 22 percent of technology workers expect layoffs, up nearly 7 points from the previous month.

Meanwhile technology worker confidence fell 6 points to 109.8 in December.

The Hudson Employment Index surveys IT workers and tracks confidence similar to how consumer confidence is compiled monthly.

Among other details:

--Of IT workers surveyed 50 percent said their personal finances in December were getting better. Thirty-four percent said their finances were getting worse. The remainder said their finances would stay the same.

--A little more than 74 percent of IT workers said they were satisfied with their current job and 20 percent said they weren't. The percentage of those dissatisfied was up 3.4 points from November.
