Swype keyboard comes to Symbian, should rock the N8 soon

Nokia's software keyboards have not been very good so I am extremely pleased to now see the awesome Swype keyboard come to Symbian devices that should continue on to the Nokia N8.

I have my Nokia N8 all pre-ordered and ready to go, but am still on the active hunt for an orange one. Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant to order a N8 given that it will not be their flagship product and the OS won't be something extraordinarily different over what we see in S60 5th Edition. One piece of news appeared today (I wrote about it on Nokia Experts for my fans there) that just made me feel much better about my N8 purchase. My favorite touch keyboard input method, Swype (from here in Seattle), is now available for S60 5th Edition, aka Symbian^1, devices over on the Nokia Beta Labs site so if you have a Nokia 5800, 5230, X6, N97, or N97 mini then go get it and try it out for free. I will be installing it on the Nokia N97 mini soon to take it for a spin.

One of the best tips I can give for Swype is to slide your finger from the very bottom left corner (where the Swype logo key is) to the right over the Sym key and you will get a directional pad and other cool functions on the keyboard.
