A few days ago I wrote about the likely T-Mobile tethering plan and how it stacked up with the other carrier smartphone tethering plans. Today, T-Mobile officially announced their tethering plan and affordable Android smartphone lineup. They also announced a new tiered data plan, with and without a contract.

The new affordable (less than $100 each) Android smartphone lineup includes the following:

  • T-Mobile Comet: 2.8 inch touch screen display, 528 MHz processor, 3.2 megapixel camera, and 3G support. $9.99 after $50 rebate.
  • LG Optimus T: 3.2 inch touch screen display, 600 MHz processor and 3.2 megapixel camera available in two colors (burgundy or titanium). $29.99 after $50 rebate.
  • Motorola Defy: This is a ruggedized smartphone with 800 MHz processor, 3.7 inch touch screen, and 5 megapixel camera that is scratch and water resistant. $49.99 after $50 rebate.
  • Motorola Charm: 2.8 inch touch screen, 600 MHz processor, 3 megapixel camera, and full QWERTY keyboard available in golden bronze or cabernet finishes. $99.99 after $50 rebate.

The high end myTouch 4G will be available November 3rd as well and the HTC HD7 will be out on November 8th so there are a lot of smartphone options from T-Mobile this month.

T-Mobile will continue with their unlimited data plan for $30, but also will let you purchase a 200MB data plan for $10 per month with a 2-year agreement or $15 per month iwth no contract. Tethering is coming in at the $14.99 rumored price, but remember that is combined with the $30 monthly unlimited data plan.
