TI tests optical wireless LAN
Texas Instruments has developed a reference design that enables switched point-to-point wireless optical connections between Ethernet LANs at 100Mbit/s, over distances of around 50m. The TALP1135 chipset technology is based on the company's existing MicroElectro-Mechanical Systems (Mems) mirror, optical transceiver and digital signal processor (DSP) components, which combine to reflect optical data signals from one point to another.
