Michael Gartenberg, after less than a month on the Microsoft payroll, has decided to quit Microsoft and go back to being an analyst at Jupiter Research.

In mid-February, in a much-publicized move, Gartenberg accepted a job as an "enthusiast evangelist" with Microsoft. On March 7, he blogged that he had changed his mind and planned to rejoin Jupiter on March 12.

Gartenberg's explanation: "At my core, I am an analyst. It’s what I do and I do it well and after much thought, I realize I’m just not ready to stop doing that job just yet."

Guess it's time to ask again: Who's going to be Microsoft's next top evangelist?
