Tweet of the Union (live-tweeting the State of the Union)

Join ZDNet Government's David Gewirtz at 9pm ET tonight at @DavidGewirtz for an interactive live-tweet discussion of the President's State of the Union address.

Tonight is President Obama's Constitutionally-mandated State of the Union address and it promises to be quite interesting.

Last year's address: 10 things (and 4 outrages) techies need to know about President Obama's State of the Union Address

This weekend, I live-tweeted election returns from the South Carolina primary and we had some really interesting and fun interactive discussions while the results were being broadcast.

I'll be doing the same tonight. My approach is to set the Tivo to record the State of the Union, charge up my iPhone 4S, prepare appropriate snackage and caffeine, and plant myself in front of the big screen here at Camp David.

Within a minute or so of the speech's start, I'll start playing back the Tivo recording and if the President says anything tweet-worthy, I'll pause the recording (yes, I have the power to stop the President of the United States in mid-speech), say it into the Siri microphone interface on the iPhone 4S, and tweet it out to my @DavidGewirtz Twitter feed.

You are welcome to respond and participate. Please reply rather than direct-messaging, so everyone can see the discussion. I'll retweet anything appropriately insightful and pithy, so others can share as well.

Let's all be cool, be polite, and have a fun and informative evening. This is democracy (and social networking technology) in action.

The festivities begin at 9pm ET.
