UK may launch high-tech stock market
UK may start a tech-oriented market, taking after the Nasdaq in the US.
A spin-off UK stock market dedicated to high-tech firms is to be launched in the next few weeks, according to reports.
It is believed the new market -- possibly called Techmark -- will start up with around 100 companies currently quoted on the London Stock Exchange. The new market will not have the high profile of the US Nasdaq but is intended to raise the profile of UK technology stock.
A London Stock Exchange spokeswoman was unable to give details of the plan, saying "it is currently consulting the technology sector" on the matter.
