US May layoffs stay on the same levels

Challenger Gray & Christmas, the company that keeps track of unemployment data, reported that 73 368 people lost their jobs in May, which is roughly the same as April's 72 184. The industries leading the pink slip parade in May included retail, telecom, government and non-profit.

The industries leading the pink slip parade in May included retail, telecom, government and non-profit. Compared to May 2003, last month's layoff numbers went up by 6.9%.
