US News Burst: IBM in speech tech pact
IBM has signed a deal with Applied Language Technologies Inc. in the U.S. to develop speech activated telephone systems.
The systems would allow people to retrieve information or conduct transactions over the phone without an operator or touch-tone menu. Financial terms were not released.
