Walmart launches early Cyber Monday tech deals

Keen to capitalize on the shopping chaos, Walmart is starting Cyber Monday deals earlier than planned.

Walmart has announced plans to begin offering Cyber Monday tech deals to Sunday shoppers.

Cyber Monday, associated with shoppers keen to pick up discounted technology ranging from smartphones to laptops and PCs, is one of the busiest points leading up to Christmas for the general public to pick up their new gadgets.

While Cyber Monday traditionally begins early on Monday -- as one would expect -- the US retail giant plans to capitalize on Internet search trends to squeeze additional profit out of the shopping weekend.

According to Walmart, Google searches for the term "Cyber Monday" surges on the day itself, but there is also a significant spike on Sunday evening.

Last year, Walmart offered a handful of early deals on the Sunday before Cyber Monday as an experiment. As a result, Walmart enjoyed an online traffic surge of 60 percent above trend and over 75 percent on mobile devices.

Therefore, Walmart has decided to release 2,000 Cyber Monday specials starting 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 29 to give shoppers more of a chance to grab a bargain -- and avoid chaos at physical outlets.

Some of the top deals include:

  • LG 65" 4K Ultra HDTV - $799 ($500 savings) + free shipping
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 3 - $599 ($200 savings) + free shipping
  • Air Hogs Star Wars Remote Control X-34 Landspeeder - $19 ($15 savings) + free shipping to store
  • Air Hogs Video Drone - $75 ($34 savings) + free shipping

Cyber Monday is not the only shopping day of interest for shoppers. On Black Friday, Walmart is also offering 10 television sets -- including the Samsung 55" Class Curved Smart 4K UHD TV and Roku 32" Class Smart HDTV for $125 -- for a discount, 100 video games will be on sale and a number of game console bundles and fitness wearables will also be on offer.
